Lonesome Road

As the miles pass by I look down at your pictures and want to cry.

All I can think about is coming home,

But that’s the price I pay out here on the lonesome road.

It’s hard to explain that daddy has a job to do.

I have to deliver this freight on time so I can send money to you.

But that’s the price I pay out here on this lonesome road.

When you grow up you will understand.

That this is the kind of man that I am.

But that’s the price I pay out here in this lonesome road.

Sorry I have missed a lot of you growing up.

When I get in, maybe I can make it up,
But that’s the price I pay out here on this lonesome road.
